What this paper is about
How this paper will be taught
This is a 100 level, 15-point, SDCOA paper. It comprises 1 x online lecture and 1 x 1 hr. in-person workshop. There are three assessments for this paper (see "Assessments" section below). The content of this paper, informed by current trends and issues extant within the sub-fields of sport development and coaching, provides the basis for subsequent papers (including SDCOA 201), and lays the groundwork for sociological aspects with the SDCOA major and minor. This paper counts toward the BHSHP degree.
Lectures will be online (video recordings via Panopto) and available on Moodle for students to watch a week in advance except for Week 1 eg. Week 3 lectures will be available to watch during Week 2. Students are expected to have watched the lectures prior to attending the workshops.
Workshops will be in person and on campus. You will need to select the workshop time that best suits your schedule using the options provided on Moodle. If you are unable to attend a workshop in person, you will be able to join the class via a zoom link that will be provided by your workshop lecturer. If you have missed a workshop, a live recorded version will be made available wherever possible so you do not miss out on activities and learning that occurred during the workshop.
Students will be expected to attend lectures (video recordings via Panopto) and attend workshops (in person or on zoom) on a weekly basis. Attendance is a combination of watching the video recorded lectures and attending workshops. If you are unable to attend, please fill in the ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATION FORM.

Extensions will normally only be given in case of illness, family bereavement, or serious personal accidents or circumstances.
